California-based environmental engineering firm Brown and Caldwell has been working on and off in Wichita since the mid 1990s and now has its own Wichita address.
The firm’s small office is in shared Regus office rental space downtown at 801 E. Douglas.
“It’s a good place to go to move into quickly,” says supervising engineer Lynn Moore.
He says there’s also room for expansion.
There wasn’t, though, room for the firm’s open house on Thursday, so Moore held it at River City Brewing instead.
“A few people came back to me and said it must be awesome to work in a brewery,” he says. “We had fun with it.”
Moore says Brown and Caldwell consults on “really just about anything to do with the environment.”
That includes water, waste water, storm water and remediation.
The firm has offices on the East and West Coasts but hasn’t had any between Denver and Nashville until now.
“We decided it was time to take that step and show that there’s a commitment to the community and put down our roots,” Moore says.
“We’ve established a base of important clients and projects in Wichita,” he says. “We want our clients and future clients to know we’re here to stay.”
