Two years after opening their first Olio’s Market on the west side, owners John and Lisa Madden are getting ready to open their second one on the east side.
“Business has been really good,” John Madden says.
They’ve been considering expanding for a while, he says, adding, “Now is better than never.”
The new store will be at Piccadilly Square at Central and Rock Road next to Knolla’s Pizza.
“The traffic count’s really good,” John Madden says.
He says the surrounding businesses make the site attractive as well.
At 1,200 square feet, the new store will be smaller than the west store, which is in 1,800 square feet at 10051 W. 21st St. next to LaMar’s Donuts.
Like the west store, the new one will sell olive oil, balsamic vinegar and colored glass bottles to hold oil and vinegar. There are other food items as well, such as pasta and dough for pizza and bread.
The east store won’t have as many events, such as dinners featuring the store’s products, though it still will have tastings and educational seminars.
“It is somewhat of an educational process … that we provide,” Lisa Madden says of helping customers understand the difference in the store’s products.
Olio’s also offers gift baskets and corporate gifts.
John Madden says additional stores are a possibility one day, such as in Derby or Hutchinson, but he says nothing is firm.
Look for the Piccadilly Square Olio’s to open by Nov. 3.
