Eduardo Sebastian and his brother-in-law, Alex Ziad, are pulling off an amazingly quick and almost on-time restaurant opening.
Last month, Sebastian told Have You Heard? that he and Ziad planned to open a second La Chinita Mexican Restaurant in Old Town Square where Twizted Cafe had a brief residence this summer.
He said they hoped to open next to Hana Cafe on the west side of the square the first week of September. With an opening now planned for Saturday, they’re off by only a couple of weeks, which is almost unheard of for restaurant openings.
Sebastian says they plan the same dishes as the La Chinita at 14th and Broadway, which has been around since 1976. He says they’ll probably add some salads and pasta dishes as well.
Never miss a local story.
The business, which already has its liquor license, will open daily at 11 a.m. and be open until at least 11 p.m. if not midnight some nights.
Sebastian says more La Chinitas are on the menu for him and Ziad.
“Our goal is to hopefully be open on the east and west sides.”
He says that won’t happen for a few years, though.
“On that, we want to take our time.”
