Willie Lusk may seem like a guy who can’t make up his mind, but that’s not exactly the case.
Lusk opened his Johnny B’s Hamburger Heaven in 2007 at 501 E. Grand in Haysville.
He says there were some issues running a restaurant there, though, so Lusk then moved to 240 N. Main St.
In 2010, he closed and moved away for personal reasons.
Never miss a local story.
In 2014, Lusk returned with his wife, Amanda, and wanted to reopen Johnny B’s. He says the only place available to rent was his original location on Grand.
“All the same issues we had before we ran into again,” he says.
So Lusk is now moving again.
“Well, guess what the only place in Haysville was available to rent?”
It’s the location on Main Street.
“Coming back home is what is feels like,” Lusk says.
He’s making a few changes, though.
Lusk is adding equipment to handle more business as well as TVs to show more sports.
Within a month or two of opening, he’s adding beer as well.
“We’re still keeing it family oriented,” Lusk says. “It’s not going to be a full-blown bar.”
The new restaurant space will have seating for 64, which compares to a couple dozen seats at the current building.
Johnny B’s last day in business at the current location on Grand is Sept. 12. The restaurant’s first day in business back on Main Street will be Sept. 15.
So is Lusk planning to stick around this time?
“I hope. I pray.”
