Attorney Wayne Sanchez, whose wife, Janet, owns Derby Antique Market, would like to set the record straight.
His family’s store shares the same Derby address as the former Derby Antiques & More, but that’s it.
This is an issue because of news this week that Sandra Ostrander, owner of the former Derby Antiques & More, pleaded guilty in Sedgwick County District Court to three counts of theft for taking items on consignment without paying the consignors when the items sold.
Derby Antiques & More closed in January 2014 after less than a year in business at 317 N. Rock Road. Derby Antique Market opened there in March 2014.
Never miss a local story.
Sanchez says people have been calling thinking Derby Antique Market is now closed.
“We told them we weren’t closing,” he says. “We’re not associated with that other individual … who did her vendors wrong.”
