Dan Dopps isn’t ready to talk about his plans for the former HomeTown Buffet on West Central just east of Ridge Road, but he will share a few details.
“We’re just turning it into retail,” Dopps says.
The restaurant closed almost a year ago.
Dopps says he’s splitting the building’s 13,000 square feet into four spaces, three of which are already leased. He says he has one 1,800-square-foot space left to lease.
Never miss a local story.
The building’s parking lot currently has 200 parking spaces. Dopps says he’ll repaint the lot and make each new space 12 feet wide.
“No door dings in this parking lot,” he says.
Dopps says he’s open to having community events in the lot and allowing sales, such as garden items or Christmas trees, there as well.
Currently, Dopps is working on the interior, where he says he’s “had a lot of salad bars and buffet lines to pull out.”
Dopps has one special surprise regarding the construction.
“It’s going to be neat when it’s finished.”
The building will be ready this fall.
Until then, Dopps doesn’t mind if people wonder about it.
“We’re going to do some marketing to try to keep some suspense going.”
