Lethanh Le, who owns the building where Thien An Supermarket is on Broadway just south of 13th Street, received some news she wasn’t expecting on Friday.
She says the owner of the Asian grocery store notified her that she was closing the business. Lethanh says the store owner turned in the building’s key, and Lethanh had to quickly decide what to do.
“I need to close the store,” she says.
Lethanh says she has no interest in running the business, so she’s been selling its contents at a discount.
Never miss a local story.
Wednesday – if Lethanh decides to even open – will be the store’s last day in business.
“I will sell the building in the future,” Lethanh says.
She says the 7,000-square-foot space has been home to an Asian market for a couple of decades. However, Lethanh says she thinks it would make more sense to have an American grocery store there since there aren’t a lot of options for groceries in the area.
Lethanh says sale signs should be on the building by next week. Look for details on the building’s future as soon as a deal happens.
