A new restaurant is opening in the former It’s a Wrap space at 4100 E. Harry, which is just east of Via Christi Hospital St. Joseph.
“We’re going to be Mediterranean,” says Hussein Alkasasy, who is opening Cairo Mediterranean Grill.
“This is my first one.”
Alkasasy is a native of Egypt. He says he wants to bring tastes from his country along with some more traditional Mediterranean fare that Wichitans are familiar with, such as shawarma, hummus and gyros.
Never miss a local story.
The restaurant will be open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day. Alkasasy says there will be a 15 percent discount for hospital workers and members of the military.
Alkasasy says he was thinking he’d open Cairo on April 22 but, with the amount of work he wants to do to the space, now thinks it’ll be more like May 1.
