Almost six years after opening Sgt. C’s Leathers, Irona Cliver had an opportunity to expand her motorcycle apparel shop with a move three doors down, and she took it.
“My landlord offered me the old RadioShack building,” Cliver says.
The extra 1,000 square feet at 919 W. 31st Street South gives her a total of 2,600 square feet for more travel and saddle bags, new apparel lines and, for the first time, motorcycle boots.
Cliver moved into the building last week but plans a March 17 grand opening.
“I’m going to hold it on St. Patty’s Day,” she says.
It’s a special day in more ways than one. It would have been her brother David “Bubba” Cliver’s 30th birthday. Cliver says she started the business with her brother, who died in 2011.
She plans a balloon release to kick off the grand opening and “to honor his memory” and “to keep his memory alive in the business.”
