Andover is about to get a couple of new dining options.
Retired pilot Mike McWilliams is opening a Gambino’s Pizza at 626 N. Andover Road next week.
“People like to eat pizza,” he says.
There are already “lots of people stopping by.”
Never miss a local story.
The 67-year-old also a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel and is a former U2 pilot who did high-altitude reconnaissance work.
The pizza business is quite a change.
The restaurant will seat 80 and be open seven days a week for lunch and dinner.
There’s a possibility McWilliams could open more of the restaurants.
“I just have to see how this one goes and what kind of toll it takes on me,” he says. “Eventually I may get stupid again and open another one.”
Los Cocos Mexican Restaurant also is still planned for Andover MarketPlace at the southeast corner of Kellogg and Andover, but it’s taking Luis Alfaro even longer to open than the last time he explained that construction issues were delaying the opening.
His latest estimate: late next month. We’ll let you know.
