Meritrust prepares for north Wichita branch

Meritrust Credit Union will break ground Tuesday on a branch in north Wichita that will eventually replace its Twin Lakes office.

Meritrust Credit Union will break ground Tuesday on a branch in north Wichita that will eventually replace its Twin Lakes office.

A ground-breaking ceremony is set for 9 a.m. at 4319 N. Meridian.

Officials from the $970 million credit union said the branch, near Meridian and K-96 in the Lakeside at the Moorings development, is expected to be completed in the fall. Following its opening, an older Meritrust branch at 1730 W. 21st North will close.

The new branch will provide retail, commercial lending, mortgage lending and wealth management services as well as teller and ATM drive-through service, officials said.

The Lakeside branch is based on a new design the credit union is implementing with the construction of its first Manhattan facility, which is now underway.

Meritrust operates 11 branches in the Wichita area, two in Lawrence and one in Junction City.
