Spirit AeroSystems is rescinding layoff notices for about two dozen engineers, the company said Friday.
The engineers were some of about 150 salaried and management employees who received layoff notices in mid-September.
They have not been reporting to work but were on the Spirit payroll until Nov. 11.
“Our work statement changed, and we’re making these offers,” said Spirit spokesman Ken Evans. “We’re not going to state the program that they’re working on.”
Spirit has spoken with its engineering union, the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace, and with the engineers who received the layoff notices.
The engineers will return as soon as they can, Evans said.
Each person’s situation differs.
“The offer we’re making is to come back as soon as possible,” he said.
While the company has made offers for about two dozen to return to work, “we’re not in a position to report how many are going to come back,” Evans said.
