Hawker Beechcraft seeks to sell land to city for Kellogg-widening project

Hawker Beechcraft Corp. has asked the bankruptcy court in New York to allow it to sell more than 400,000 square feet of land along Kellogg and along Webb Road for $2.9 million for the widening of Kellogg.

Hawker Beechcraft Corp. has asked the bankruptcy court in New York to allow it to sell more than 400,000 square feet of land along Kellogg and along Webb Road for $2.9 million for the widening of Kellogg.

The sale would be made to the city of Wichita and would not include any buildings. The purchase price includes the cost of rebuilding an existing road on the property to be sold, according to the filing.

The company told the court that it thought the price was fair and that the city could start condemnation proceedings anyway and take the land through eminent domain if no deal were made.

The court set a Sept. 27 hearing date to consider the request.
