Employees at a Textron Aviation building in southwest Wichita returned to work after an evacuation that was the result of 911 dispatchers receiving a report of a possible bomb threat.
Sedgwick County sheriff’s Lt. Lin Dehning said dispatchers received a phone call at 8:30 a.m. and the caller reported overhearing a “conversation that there could be some type of bomb threat” at Textron building known as the Prospect building, near K-42 and Hoover.
“Just because of the information we had, deputies responded,” Dehning said.
Deputies and Textron security evacuated the building, which he said was searched for suspicious packages or devices. None were found.
“We can confirm a threat was made and the authorities are onsite,” Textron Aviation said in an e-mailed statement Thursday morning. “The safety and well-being of our employees is always our top concern.”
A Textron spokeswoman confirmed Thursday afternoon that employees had returned to work in the building.
