The bank, based in New York, said it had earnings of 83 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were 80 cents per share.
The results met Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was also for earnings of 80 cents per share.
The trust bank posted revenue of $3.84 billion in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $3.82 billion.
Shares fell 71 cents to $46.15 in morning trading.
