Werner Golling has been named vice president for Finance and Administration at Wichita State University, according to a news release Thursday from WSU.
Golling will replace Mary Herrin, who is retiring after 43 years at WSU. She has been vice president and chief financial officer since January 2008.
Golling will start his new duties Jan. 8.
He has served as vice president for administration and finance at Emporia State University since 2014. Before that, Golling spent five years as chief financial officer and human resources director at Aldevron, a private company in the biotechnology field, the release said.
His new duties at WSU will include oversight of all financial matters, facilities, public safety and human resources, the release said.
“We were fortunate to be able to hire an experienced chief financial officer from within the Kansas Regents system,” WSU President John Bardo said in the news release.
Bardo said Werner’s work with a biological research and manufacturing company that worked closely with a university on innovation is a bonus.
“He’ll be a great contributor to conversations about the increasing role of funded research in the university,” Bardo said in the release.
