Area Development magazine has named Kansas a winner of its “silver shovel” award for economic development among states with populations of less than 3 million.
The magazine named 19 states in five population categories as winners of either its gold or silver shovel awards.
Most of the projects Kansas won were in Johnson County, but the list includes the Starwood Hotels and Resorts contact center in Wichita and its 955 jobs.
