Simmons First sees net income jump in second quarter

The holding company of Simmons First National Bank said Thursday net income at the Pine Bluff, Ark., company rose nearly 51 percent between the second quarter of 2013 and the second quarter of 2014.
Simmons First National Corp. said net income for the quarter ended June 30 was $9.9 million, compared with $6.6 million in the same quarter last year.
Total loans during the period increased 27 percent to $2.4 billion.
The results include the company’s $53.6 million acquisition of Little Rock-based Metropolitan National Bank in November 2013, a $991 million bank.
In Wichita, Simmons First operates two bank branches.
