Home sales in the Wichita area climbed in June and inventories remain tight, according to a new report from the South Central Kansas Multiple Listing Service.
The report said 852 existing houses were sold in June compared with 782 in the same month a year ago.
The number of new houses sold was also up in the same period, from 46 in June 2013 to 68 in June 2014.
The combined number of new and existing houses sold in June was 920 compared with 839 last June.
Inventory for new and existing houses remained low. The report said there were 3.5 months of inventory for existing houses and 3.9 months for new houses. When the supply of houses is below five months, the market is considered a seller’s market.
