WICHITA — BlueChip Spine & Sports Specialists owner C. Tyrel Hummel has added a couple of chiropractors to his practice and is about to add a third office as well.
"We're opening in the fall," Hummel says of a clinic he'll have at the new Next Level Hoops Academy in Bel Aire at the Sunflower Commerce Park.
"The biggest thing is just ... working with the athletes, being in that environment," Hummel says. "Being in that gym setting. That's where we came from."
For five years, Hummel's practice was at Pure-Formance Sports & Fitness Training Center when it was in Andover.
Then, in early 2012, BlueChip moved to the Shops at Tallgrass near 21st and Rock, and a second site quickly followed at 940 N. Tyler.
Hummel says he spends a lot of time teaching his chiropractic method at universities and to professional teams, so he has hired two chiropractors to help him at his clinics.
Chiropractor Bret Kelley likely will be at the new Hoops clinic most of the time. Hummel also has hired chiropractor Devan Lysen.
"They bring a little bit more to the table," Hummel says.
He says that's because Lysen and Kelley are in their mid-20s, while he's the ripe old age of 36.
"It's kind of good to have some youth around."
