Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina will begin work on its $7.5 million sports complex within a few weeks.
The university held a groundbreaking event Friday, according to a news release. It also announced that Hellas Construction, Inc., of Austin, Texas, will be the primary contractor on the project. Hellas is owned and operated by Wichita native Reed J. Seaton, according to the release.
Phase I of the project will includes two lighted, turf fields, an eight-lane track, street improvements and perimeter fencing.
Phase II will include the grandstand, the centerpiece of the project. If enough funds are committed by October 2014, construction of the grandstand could begin as early as November of this year, according to the release.
