Newton’s LifeTeam among contenders for governor’s business award

The Kansas Department of Commerce said Thursday a Newton-based company is among the finalists for the Governor’s Award of Excellence.
Air ambulance service LifeTeam in Newton was named a finalist along with Galaxy Technologies in Winfield, Benefit Management in Great Bend, Geary Community Hospital in Junction City and Grandstand Glassware and Apparel in Lawrence.
The Governor’s Award of Excellence is the top award given to a business by the state, and the awards program is part of the state’s annual Business Appreciation Month.
The winner of the award will be announced at the Team Kansas Awards Banquet set for June 17 in Wichita.
One hundred Kansas businesses were nominated for the award, which encompasses the categories of manufacturing/distribution, service, retail and hospital/non-profit.
