Boeing buys fuel-efficiency analytics firm called ETS Aviation

Boeing said Friday that it had agreed to acquire ETS Aviation, a provider of fuel-efficiency management and analytics software.

Boeing said Friday that it had agreed to acquire ETS Aviation, a provider of fuel-efficiency management and analytics software.

ETS, based in Bristol, England, provides software to more than 120 airlines and corporate flight departments, Boeing said. ETS was founded in 2009 and its software supports nearly 900,000 flights a year.

Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

“Adding these fuel-efficiency tools enhances the edge we provide customers, helping airlines realize greater operating and environmental efficiencies,” said Stan Deal, the senior vice president of commercial aviation services in Boeing’s commercial airplanes business.

Following the sale, ETS’s employees will join Boeing’s Jeppesen subsidiary in Britain. The transaction is expected to be completed in the second quarter.
