Siemens Energy has been selected to supply 140 wind turbines for the planned 270-megawatt K2 Wind project in Goderich in southwestern Ontario, the company said.
The Siemens SWT-2.3-101 turbine nacelles will be assembled at the Siemens plant in Hutchinson.
Commercial operation of the plant in Canada will start in mid-2015 and will generate power for 100,000 homes. The blades for the project will be manufactured at the Siemens blade facility in Tillsonburg, Ontario. Towers for the project will also be produced locally in Canada.
