Women in Aviation Air Capital City Chapter, which helps send low-income girls to Space Camp, is having a fund-raising dinner from 6 to 8 p.m. on May 6 at Stearman Field Bar & Grill in Benton.
Former NASA astronaut and Army Lt. Col. Charles “Sam” Gemar is the featured speaker. Gemar was a crew member on three Space Shuttle missions.
Wichita Eagle aviation writer Molly McMillin also will be honored at the event.
In 2013, the chapter sent 25 girls who participate in Future Women in A STEM Career to camp. This year the goal is to send 40.
Tickets are $60 or $100 for two and can be purchased at www.aircapitalcitywai.org.
