Two years after starting the Wichita franchise of Two Men and a Truck, owner Garret Peterman will open a second location, on the city’s east side.
Peterman said the new 2,200-square-foot office at 309 S. Greenwich, north of Kellogg, will open Monday.
Preston Haverkamp will manage the east-side office for the franchise, which provides local and long-distance moving for residential and commercial customers.
“Right now we’re in the phase of entering the busier moving season,” he said. “We’re hitting the ground running.”
Never miss a local story.
Peterman said he plans to hire 10 full-time employees for the new office. They will be in addition to the 20 workers – of which all but a couple are full-time – he employs at the franchise’s west-side office at 8537 W. 21st St.
“We have already been serving customers from Andover, Derby, Augusta and Bel Aire,” he said. “In the long run, it (having an east office) will save on transportation costs. And we want to be in those areas where it’s more convenient for customers.”
Peterman has ordered two new moving trucks, bringing the total to nine.
“When we opened, it was my wife, myself and a couple of movers,” he said. “We went from two trucks to now, when we have No. 8 and No. 9 on the way.”
Peterman started with Two Men and a Truck 11 years ago as a mover working for its Lansing, Mich., franchise. He worked his way from that job to the franchise’s corporate office – also in Lansing – where he worked with franchisees in establishing new franchises for the 29-year-old company, which has 260 locations in the U.S.
In 2012 he and his wife, Gracie, moved here to open the Wichita franchise that they purchased.
