Average wage for Wichita area shows slight gain over one year

Average weekly wages in Sedgwick County were $814 in the third quarter of 2013, up 0.9 percent from the same quarter of 2012, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The increase in average wage puts the county 224th out of the 335 largest counties for growth rate.
The average weekly wage is the total of all wages earned in the county divided by the total of all people working, which was up 1.4 percent from a year earlier. The third quarter covers the months of July, August and September.
The average wage in Johnson County in the third quarter was $934; Wyandotte County, $879; and Shawnee County, $769. The average wage for Kansas was $776.
