A proposed merger of Andale Farmers Cooperative and Farmers Cooperative Elevator of Halstead failed to get enough votes to pass Monday.

The merger had to be approved by two-thirds of the members of each co-op. The Halstead members approved the plan, but the Andale members did not.

The two co-ops will continue to operate as before, said Halstead General Manager Jack Queen.

They have about 1,300 members between them.
