Hutchinson Regional Medical Center is set to begin a $6.2 million dollar expansion of its emergency department, according to a news release.
Construction will begin Monday and is expected to be completed by January 2015.
The project will more than double the size of the emergency department from 6,000 square feet to 16,000 square feet, allowing the department to increase capacity from 10 beds to 19 beds.
The hospital says all emergency services will continue during construction, but there will be a period during which the emergency department will be relocated to the other side of the campus at the Same Day Surgery Center.
