Underground Vaults & Storage of Hutchinson has acquired Document Resources, a professional document-destruction company based in Manhattan.
Document Resources’ name and staff, other than the owner, will remain the same, said Jeff Ollenburger, vice president of sales and business development for Underground Vaults. The owner sold the business to pursue other business opportunities.
Underground Vaults specializes in long-term document and asset storage, and has been looking for a way to expand with a new service, Ollenburger said.
“It’s a great Kansas-born company with a 15-year history of taking care of clients,” he said of Document Resources. “They matched up really nicely with our company, providing services that we did not offer.”
Document Resources holds industry certification known as NAID “AAA,” the highest security standard for such companies. It was founded in 1998 and currently has 23 employees in Manhattan, Wichita, Hays and Salina. Its products and services include on-site shredding, off-site shredding, hard drive destruction, paper record and media storage, and e-waste disposal.
Underground Vaults & Storage, established in 1959, operates three underground and three above-ground storage facilities in four states. It is known best for storing millions of items, including movie film, data tapes and paper records for worldwide clients in a 650-foot deep salt mine in Hutchinson.
