An area commercial Realtor with more than four decades of experience will receive his peers’ highest honor next week.

Rod Stewart has been named the 2013 recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award, awarded jointly by Wichita State University’s Center for Real Estate and the Kansas chapter of Certified Commercial Investment Members.

The award will be presented to Stewart at a Dec. 12 luncheon at WSU’s Marcus Welcome Center.

Stewart, managing director of KW Commercial, will be the ninth recipient of the award, which is presented annually.

Carl Hebert, Kansas CCIM chapter president, said it was Stewart who came up with the idea for the award.

Hebert said Stewart was humble when he was notified that he was to be its recipient.

“He’s just kind of content to be in the trenches,” Hebert said.

Past recipients of the award include Dave Burk, Colby Sandlian, Jack Hunt, George Ablah, Jack DeBoer, Nestor and Michael Weigand, Stephen Clark and Herb Krumsick.
