Hale Ritchie, former CEO of Ritchie Corp., will be honored as the 2014 recipient of the Uncommon Citizen award by the Wichita Metro Chamber of Commerce. Ritchie is a longtime volunteer and supporter of Rainbows United, a local nonprofit that serves children with disabilities.

Ritchie and other award recipients will be recognized at Honors Night on April 8. The annual Chamber event recognizes people and individuals in select categories for their contributions to the community.

Three companies will receive Over the Years awards, which recognize “good corporate citizens and major contributors to the community’s economic well-being,” according to a news release. Hutton Construction, John T. Arnold Associates and Laham Development will be the companies recognized.

Fidelity Bank will receive the Spirit of Wichita award, which recognizes businesses that have previously been given the Over the Years award and continue to distinguish themselves through their community contributions.

The Robert D. Love Downtown YMCA will receive the Keeper of the Plains award, which recognizes an outstanding architectural achievement.

Honors Night 2014 will be held at Beech Activity Center, 9710 E. Central. Ticket information is not yet available.
