Grene Vision Group plans to relocate its office at 834 N. Socora to a new $3.5 million building at 1277 N. Maize Road early next summer, according to a news release.
“We’re looking for an opportunity to expand our services and also be in a more convenient location for patients in west Wichita and southwest Wichita and service to the Goddard community,” said Kayli Smith, chief operating officer.
Smith said the current location, where they’ve had offices since at least 1999, had multiple levels where patients had to go up and down stairs to reach different services and retail space.
The new 16,000-square-foot location doubles the group’s current workspace and will be all on one level, she said. The new location will also allow Grene Vision to expand its selection of eyeglasses with increased retail space.
The site will include 18 computerized exam rooms. Its services include routine eye care, cataract evaluations, glaucoma treatment, pediatric care, emergency care and neuro-opthamology, which is treatment of patients with neurological diseases that also affect their vision.
Smith said Grene expects to add some positions at the new office in the contact lens and optical department retail side.
Project architect is Stan Shelden of Shelden Architecture. The builder is Bob Simpson of Simpson Construction Services.
Grene Vision Group has 33 optometrists and 11 opthamologists at 19 locations across the state. It was established in 1996 and has about 400 employees.
