Tad Stricker, general manager, Marriott Fairfield Inn & Suites Downtown

Stricker went to college to study political science but fell in love with the hotel business while working in one part time.

“I like the fact that you get to make people happy for a living, and you get to build memories,” he said.

Stricker, 34, grew up in southwest Missouri. He helped open the Courtyard by Marriott Old Town in Wichita in 2007. Like the Marriott Fairfield, it’s owned by A.G. Hospitality. Stricker left the next year to work at theWit in Chicago, named one of the five trendiest hotels in the country.

He returned with his wife, Jenna, to Wichita this summer to oversee the Marriott Fairfield, which has 131 rooms and suites.

“It was really because of the whole quality of life in Wichita,” he said. “My wife and I, when we started looking to start a family, couldn’t think of a better place to do it than here in Wichita.”

Outside of work, Stricker enjoys competing in triathlons.
