Wichita auctioneer Megan McCurdy has won national honors; she was named the 2013 International Auctioneer Champion for the women's division.

McCurdy, who has been involved in the family business, McCurdy Auction, since she was 7, participated in the nationwide competition through the National Auctioneers Association, which had its annual convention last week in Indianapolis, according to a news release issued on behalf of McCurdy Auction.

“Bid calling is very much a matter of individual style,” McCurdy said in a statement. “Every one of the contestants was very good, and each is unique. I just tried to relax and do what I do for McCurdy clients every week, for better or worse. When I came off the platform, I told my father (founder and CEO Lonny McCurdy) that was the best I could do.”

McCurdy Auction, based in Wichita, markets a range of residential and commercial property throughout Kansas.
