Wichitans were among the top five in Real Trends’ inaugural ranking of the real estate agents in Kansas.

Amelia Sumerell of Coldwell Banker Plaza Real Estate ranked fourth in the state for number of transactions and first by volume, according to the 2013 Real Trends Best Real Estate Agents in America report, released Tuesday. Sumerell had 121 transactions and $39.2 million in volume, the report said.

Mike Grbic Real Estate Experts ranked second in the state for team transactions and second for sales volume, the report said. The Grbic team had 688 transactions and $86.8 million in volume.

This is the first year for the report put together by Colorado-based Real Trends, which for years has put together an annual, national ranking of real estate firms based on the number of transactions and volume. Real Trends said to qualify for the Best Agents ranking, individual agents must have closed more than 50 transactions or $20 million in volume. Agent teams that have more than 75 closed transactions or $30 million in closed sales volume qualify for inclusion in the ranking of teams. Real Trends said it verifies the data reported by agents and teams through a third party.

Other Wichita agents included in the Kansas individual agent rankings were: Marsha Allen of Re/Max Realty Professionals East, No. 7 in transactions; and Myron K. Klaassen of Coldwell Banker Plaza, No. 14 in transactions.

The Roy Group of Keller Williams Realty was ranked fourth in transactions among Kansas real estate teams.
