Kansas Big Brothers Big Sisters said that its Summer Soiree event honoring former Koch Industries president Bill Hanna raised more than $1.8 million for the Wichita-based organization.
It said the money will be used for a “new and aggressive” strategic plan to provide a mentor for every child in need. The organization said it serves 6,000 children but that there are 4,000 on a waiting list.
Hanna has long been involved in the organization, serving in numerous capacities, including as a Big Brother and chairman of the board of the statewide organization.
