Financial terms of the acquisition of Vela Environmental were not disclosed.

Kennedy and Coe, which is based in Salina, has substantial operations in Wichita. Company officials said the acquisition was strategic to its food and agriculture consulting business.

“Kennedy and Coe is exceptionally committed to the continuity and success of U.S. food and agriculture,” said CEO Jeff Wald in a news release. “We don’t see ourselves as just serving this industry, we are a part of the industry. Having the Vela team on board allows us to influence policy and improve the effectiveness of our clients all along the food supply chain — from input to plant to plate.”

Vela also operates offices in Vermont, Virginia and Wyoming, according to its website.
