The Wichita Independent Business Association and the Wichita Metro Chamber of Commerce have formed a Joint Military Affairs Committee to build the relationship between the local business community and local military leaders.

The newly formed committee’s first task is supporting the placement of an Air Force tanker unit at McConnell Air Force Base. Wayne Roberts, current chairman of the Chamber’s Tanker Task Force, will head the new committee.

“This is another way we can demonstrate to the military that our business community is solidly united in support of McConnell Air Force Base and shares the common goal of ensuring that it remains vital to global air mobility,” said chamber president and CEO Gary Plummer.

“Both organizations have a history of working diligently to show our military leadership that we appreciate the importance of our military installations as vital community partners,” said association president Tim Witsman.
