Meritrust Credit Union said Friday it will have a new chief executive next month.
The state’s largest credit union said in a news release that it has hired James Nastars as president and CEO.
Nastars will join the credit union Feb. 18. He comes to Meritrust from University Federal Credit Union in Austin, Texas, where he was senior vice president of lending and collections for the $1.5 billion credit union.
According to the release, Nastars has been with UFCU for more than 16 years. His LinkedIn profile said he has earned a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Texas at Austin. He is credited with leading a 124-member team through a revitalization of the credit union’s lending and collections operation, which included an expansion of lending products and services, the release said.
“He has a solid record of building business through trust, service and relationships,” said Marci Johnson, chairwoman of Meritrust’s board, in the release.
Nastars could not be reached for comment at his office in Austin on Friday.
He replaces Bob Corwin, who left in September to become president and CEO of Advantis Credit Union in Portland, Ore.
Meritrust has $830 million in assets and 14 branches in the Wichita area, Junction City and Lawrence.
