Sedgwick County wages up slightly in second quarter

Sedgwick County wages improved in the second quarter of 2012, but at a glacial pace, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Average wages rose 0.2 percent from the same period a year earlier, reaching an average of $818 per week and putting it 221st among the country’s 329 largest counties.

Employment rose more quickly than total wages, up 1.2 percent from the year before.

The average weekly wage in Johnson County was $929, up 2 percent from the second quarter of 2011; Wyandotte County was $839, down 1.4 percent; and Shawnee County was $771, down 1 percent.
