Wesley Medical Center’s chief operating officer Steve Edgar will serve as new CEO for Galichia Heart Hospital, according to a news release from Wesley Medical Center.

Edgar will transition to the new position through December. He replaces Steve Harris, who will retire effective Dec. 31.

Edgar joined Wesley Medical Center in 2007 and oversaw construction projects, renovations and the expansions of WesleyCare Clinics, according to the release.

Previously, he worked at the Research Medical Center in Kansas City, which is owned by the same parent company as Wesley Medical Center, Hospital Corporation of America. While in Kansas City, Edgar oversaw the center’s rehabilitation services department and coordinated its medical residency program.

Galichia Heart Hospital was acquired by Wesley Medical Center last February. It is a 99-bed hospital located at 2610 N. Woodlawn.
