The Wichita Metro Chamber of Commerce said Tuesday it has hired Angie Prather as vice president of communications and investor relations.
The chamber said Prather, who most recently led communications and marketing at Via Christi Clinic, will start in her new post on Dec. 5.
Prather will fill a new position created by the chamber to oversee communication among all its functions, including the Greater Wichita Economic Development Coalition, Visioneering, Young Professionals of Wichita and Leadership Council.
Barby Jobe has been overseeing the chamber’s communications efforts for the past four years, in addition to her role as vice president of government relations. Gary Plummer, the chamber’s CEO, said Prather’s hiring will allow Jobe to focus exclusively on her government relations post.
“We know that government relations is important to the success of all businesses, and one of the greatest assets of our Chamber is our strong advocacy effort,” Plummer said in a news release announcing the changes.
Prior to joining Via Christi Clinic, Prather served as marketing director for the Wichita Airport Authority.
In 2008, Prather was a nominee for the Wichita American Marketing Association’s inaugural Marketer of the Year award.
