Information technology manager, Intrust Bank Arena
Burgess was already familiar with the computer networks and phone systems at Intrust Bank Arena before starting his new job a couple of weeks ago.
After all, he helped install it as a Sedgwick County employee.
“I was always very interested in working in this environment,” Burgess said. “It’s fast-paced. It’s exciting to be around the different events that come to the arena.”
Burgess, 38, grew up in Wichita, earned a degree from the University of Kansas and worked eight years in IT for Corporate Lodging Consultants. He then spent four years working for Sedgwick County, where he was the county’s network architect.
In addition to overseeing the technology used by arena employees, he provides support for the IT needs of arena events.
“Usually those events will require information technology resources such as access to the Internet, wireless connectivity, telephone lines in various locations. I’m the one who gets that set up.”
Outside of work, Burgess enjoys watching movies, playing board and video games and spending time with his family.
