Most of the corn in south-central Kansas has been harvested, and harvest is under way for soybeans and grain sorghum, according to U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Also, wheat planting in south-central Kansas is about 40 percent complete.

The drought’s effects continue. The soil in south-central Kansas remains very dry, with 26 percent of the top soil rated adequate for moisture or better, and just 7 percent of the subsoil.

Statewide, almost two-thirds of the soybean and grain sorghum crops are rated poor or very poor.
