The number of hogs and pigs on Kansas farms as of Sept. 1 totaled 1.89 million head, down less than 1 percent from Sept. 1, 2011.
Hogs kept for breeding purposes totaled 170,000 head, down 6 percent from a year ago.
Inventory going to market was unchanged from a year ago, but up 7 percent from June 1, 2012.
Hogs of less than 50 pounds, totaled 520,000 head, unchanged from a year ago. Hogs at 50-119 pounds totaled 380,000 head, up 1 percent from a year ago.

Hogs at 120-179 pounds totaled 310,000 head, up 2 percent from a year ago. Hogs at 180 pounds and over numbered 510,000, down 2 percent from a year ago.
