Manufacturing in the Kansas City Federal Reserve district slowed somewhat in September, although producers remained fairly positive about the future.
In September, transportation equipment production posted a slight increase, but overall manufacturers’ shipments, new orders, order backlog and hourly work week all dipped from August numbers.
Few reported direct impacts from the economic situation in Europe, but indicated business conditions have deteriorated further with European customers and suppliers.
The Fed district includes all of Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Colorado, Wyoming, the northern half of New Mexico and the western third of Missouri.
