After finishing his residency in Kansas City, Koepsel couldn’t think of a better place to practice than with Chuck Pierson, who inspired him to be a dentist in the first place.
“Dr. Pierson is one of the people who led me along that way,” said Koepsel, who joins Pierson and two other dentists at Wichita Family Dental this month. “I shadowed him in high school a little bit and really liked the way he practiced, just the fun he had getting to know his patients. He really made it a fun environment.”
Koepsel, 30, grew up in Wichita, graduated from Collegiate and majored in business and biochemistry at the University of Kansas. He studied dentistry at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and did his residency at Truman Medical Center.
Koepsel said dentistry combines his interest in science and the arts. “I’ve always had one of those artistic minds. Doing restorations and rebuilding helps people achieve what they want.”
He considered specializing in one aspect of dentistry before deciding that a general practice “offered me a better way to get to know my patients and stay with them awhile. I really enjoy that about what we’re doing here.”
Outside of work, Koepsel enjoys the outdoors and spending time with family and his dog, a Labrador named Ranger.
