Vanessa Voge, who started her new job Oct. 1, chose plastic surgery as her specialty because no two cases are exactly alike.
"I like the variety of plastic surgery, that you can use creativity in your surgical plan," she said. "I like that no two patients are the same so you can tailor each treatment to the individual."
Voge, 35, grew up in Wichita and graduated from Maize High School. She earned her medical degree from the University of Kansas, did her general surgery residency at the school's Wichita campus, then completed her plastic surgery residency at Albert Einstein University in New York.
Outside work, Voge enjoys playing with her dog, water sports, hiking and other outdoor activities.
Voge, whose office is at 818 N. Emporia, will offer comprehensive reconstructive and cosmetic surgery, with a focus on reconstructive breast surgery after cancer removal. Cosmetic body, face and skin surgery and pediatric surgery to correct birth defects are also offered.
Voge said the reputation of Wichita Surgical Specialists and the city's medical community as a whole drew her back to Kansas. Founded in 1967, Wichita Surgical's 37 physicians make it one of the largest private surgical groups in the nation.
"I look forward to partnering with physicians and surgeons throughout the community," Voge said.
