WICHITA — As Tim Heeren prepares to move and expand his east-side Great Harvest Bread, he's closing his three-year-old west-side store.
The Great Harvest near 21st and Maize Road will close on Saturday.
"We're taking on an awesome project,' Heeren says of his east-side store. "I really need to give 100 percent of my efforts there."
Heeren is moving his east-side Great Harvest from 6509 E. Central to 533 N. Woodlawn to part of the former Home Gallery by Cohlmia space.
He's expanding his product line by adding new kinds of bread, such as hard-crusted bread, and bagels. He's even jumping on the current craze and adding frozen yogurt.
Heeren also is expanding his lunch offerings and adding breakfast as well.
The new place will open in September.
"At this time we're going to concentrate all of our efforts on this location and see how that goes," Heeren says.
He may be able to offer a similar concept on the west side one day.
"If we could duplicate something like this, then we'd take a look at it. Absolutely."
In the meantime, he hopes west-siders will make the trip.
"We just appreciate the patronage and all of the business over the years," Heeren says. "We truly hope that everybody comes and sees us at the east store."
